SAUCE comment embedded in ansi: Ernie Bushmiller's elegantly minimalist comic strip "Nancy" emerged from his earlier "Fritzi Ritz" strip in 1938. 80 years (!) later, the pseudonymous Olivia Jaimes took over the reigns of the strip, helping Nancy graduate to full-bore Internet meme with this panel.
