The roasted fennel and 'sausage' rigatoni recipe from Brianna's book, 'Vegan Pasta Night'. Another ribollita picture from a different day before I scooped some out. Slowhand pizza in Leslieville makes amazing pizzas, one of which is a dill pickle pizza. This was my attempt at making it (sans sourdough). King Arthur put out the cutest focaccia recipe which yields enough for two sandwiches. This was one of them. I wish I had a better photo of this, but this is a soup is based on the (I think) Swahili dish mbaazi za nazi. I can't find the recipe online now, but maybe one day I will stumble upon it again. Something like an aglio e olio with teriyaki tempeh. I think I was hungry and lacked groceries. Ash reshteh made for Nowruz in 2023. A friend suggested that authentic 'reshteh' makes the dish, but I lacked them this year. I found this recipe to make them from scratch and it was fantastic! A penpal recommended this delicious dish, and so I made it using this recipe. This is what happens when I read about currywurst is and imagine it instead of following a recipe. I made a tomato-heavy Indian-spiced gravy and poured it over some plantbased brats (TMRW brand, good flavour but bad casings). Fries were from frozen. Peanut stew from Zoe Alakija's 'Afro Vegan' book, topped with plantain chips, peanuts, and Suraj crispy onions. My wife had a craving for a noodle soup, so this was the ad hoc creation. Needed more salt, though. I wondered what would happen if instead of using just cheese in a macaroni and cheese recipe, if I used cheese and a basic tikka masala gravy. This was the result. A noodle dish with peanut butter sauce, fried tempeh, and cucumber pickles for garnish. Recipe was from here. A curried chickpea soup from Donna Klein's recipe. Macaroni bel laban with batata harra (spicy potatoes) and toum. I used Impossible Burger in place of the usual ground beef. Tikka masala style pizza, homemade dough, baked in a cast iron pan. Vegetarian Jamaican beef patties (Impossible Burger for the ground). A supped-up cheesy ramen (from a package). Maraaq digir (bean stew) with sabaayad. Part of my attempt to learn more about Somalian cuisine. Bariis iskukaris, a Somalian rice dish. The french fries were super cute garnishes in images online but look depressing here. Tikka masala with tikka paneer. A lazy attempt at an Indonesian dish called gado-gado. Pretty decent for hot days when you don't want to turn on the stove for too long. My eggplant fatteh. A little disappointed in the presentation, also the sauce should be runnier I think. Manakish, made from Claire's flatbread recipe in 'Dessert Person'. What probably is a variant of fasoolia baida, a bean stew from Palestine. The recipe is from here but no one actually says what it is called, so I am guessing. Tomato-broth udon using this recipe. Salty nut tart from Claire's 'Dessert Person' book. Ribolita (recipe from here). Sadly not vegetarian with all that parm, but still good. Deepdish pizza (it's underneath the sauce). Chili paneer, recipe from here, I think... Tuscan fried tofu. Another one of my `read the wikipedia page and guess' dishes. Eshkeneh, a delicious Persian onion soup. Apparently it was a traditional peasant food before being revamped to this much richer version. Wanted to make the in-laws something according to their dietary restrictions (AIP + keto), and this was the creation. Something like a Keralan curry I saw online, but then adjusted within those restrictions. Mapo tofu from Hsiao-Ching Chou's 'Vegetarian Chinese Soul Food'. Basically the first time I replicated toum, the famous fluffy garlicky goodness that is mysteriously absent from the GTA. Difficult without a food processor, but possible... Tacos we made in place of a Taco Bell craving. Our fries supreme clone when we decided that our Taco Bell craving had to be filled while also not wanting to be disappointed with local fast food restaurants. Spaghetti and meatballs using Salma Hage's vegetarian meatball recipe (which is actually really good!). Tofu buldak. A spicy and cheesy comfort food dish from Korea. Digaag qumbe is probably one of my favourite dishes. This one is an adaptation of Hawa Hassan's recipe to make it thicker, tastier, and vegetarian (thereby making it not really 'digaag' anymore, but sue me). Another picture of digaag qumbe. You can never have enough. We make enormous calzones (okay, it has lots of sauce in it so it's not legit is it?), and this was a cross section. My sister's favourite pie: sweet potato pie. Yes, the crust is storebought since I am lazy.
